‘El Tigre,’ Wanted in since 2007, has been on the run for 16 years
A man dubbed ‘El Tigre,’ has finally been captured after managing to elude authorities for 16 years. Jose Wilson Padilla-Padilla, 41 is accused of the murder of 28-year-old Wilson Zelaya.
The two men where playing video games at a local bar, when some type of altercation broke out. Padilla confronted the other man and shot him multiple times. Wilson Zelaya later died of his injuries. During the investigation, key eye witnesses said that the shooter was a man who went by the name of ‘El Tigre’.
The argument reportedly began over Zelaya dating Padilla sister. Verbal threats were witnesses, as Padilla walked up to Zelaya and began shooting striking him multiple times. Padilla then fled the scene of the crime.
He managed to avoid law enforcement by having a fake Honduran passport which he uses to apply for US visa’s allowing him to stay in the country and even get married.
Sheriff’s office officials said a deputy was on patrol when they witnessed a car cross a double yellow line to pass another vehicle.
A traffic stop was conducted and authorities discovered the driver, Padilla-Padilla, had a warrant for first-degree murder out of Broward County.
Padilla-Padilla was booked into the Walton County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Broward.
