At Cardinal Gibbons High School, wrestling isn’t just a sport—it’s a family tradition. Brothers Michael and Peter Mocco, under the mentorship of their father, former Olympian Steve Mocco, are not only dominating the mats but also carrying forward a legacy of excellence.
Steve Mocco, a two-time NCAA National Champion and 2008 U.S. Olympian, now channels his passion into coaching at the American Top Team gym in Coconut Creek. Guiding his sons, he reflects, “I feel like I won the lottery being able to share this time with them.”
Michael, a senior at Cardinal Gibbons, has an impressive track record. He clinched the U17 U.S. World Championship in the 215-pound class, showcasing his prowess on an international platform. His commitment to the sport is evident as he continues to defend his state title, maintaining an undefeated record.
Not to be overshadowed, 16-year-old Peter is the reigning state champion in the 190-pound category. His dedication mirrors that of his brother, and together, they form a formidable duo, pushing each other to excel.
The Mocco brothers’ influence has been instrumental in Cardinal Gibbons’ wrestling success.
