Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis is under some scrutiny after he was seen not quarantining himself after he had been exposed to Covid-19.
12 Broward employees recently tested positive for the Coronavirus, and another 30 asked to self quarantine after they had been exposed, with apparently the exception of one, Mayor Dean Trantalis.
Despite the fact that he had been exposed, Trantalis who is up for reelection, could be seen all week on the campaign trail.
The outbreak at City Hall was reported by news media on Tuesday, October 27. City Manager Chris Lagerbloom confirmed that he had tested positive for the virus one week earlier, on Tuesday, October 20. The day before — Monday, October 19 — Lagerbloom had attended meetings alongside Trantalis and his chief of staff, according to the Sun Sentinel. The mayor told the newspaper they had followed proper protocols, including wearing masks and maintaining a six-foot social distance.
