A record number of Black Men now run Broward’s criminal justice system

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – With state and federal elections coming to a close, Fort Lauderdale and Broward have a record number of African American Men, sitting in positions of power in Broward’s criminal justice system.

Sheriff Tony Scott has won his first election for the Broward Sheriff’s Office and Gordon Weekes and Harold Pryor won the race for public defender and state attorney.

It’s a historical moment. For the first time ever in Broward County, a Black person will be in all three leadership roles.
