Water Advisory in Fort Lauderdale due to leaking sewer pipe, effective immediately
Fort Lauderdale, Florida – An estimated 100,000 gallons of sewage leaked into the Intracoastal and streets surrounding the beach, Fort Lauderdale officials report.
The city has advised that residents and visitors, avoid swimming, boating, and other water activities until further notice.
The sanitary sewer pipe broke at 741 Bayshore Dr. on the barrier island at 3:49 a.m. The leak was stopped at 8:30 a.m., according to a preliminary report the city filed to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
