Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Broward student tests positive for Covid-19 this week. He is an eight grader at Broward private school Westminster Academy
According to the headmaster, Joel Satterly, the school staff on Sunday quickly notified the families of students who may have been in direct contact with the student.
The Florida Department of Health in Broward County also alerted the parents of the 8th grade of Westminster on Monday night.
Blake J. Matthews, a spokesman for the school, referred to authorities’ additional calls as “confusing and conflicting” because “this is an isolated incident with little potential exposure to other students.”
The opening of Broward schools has been a heated debate over the last few weeks as President Trump and others urged schools to reopen, amidst the ongoing pandemic. Westminster welcome children back on August 12, following safety protocols and social distance requirements.
