Sunrise, Florida – Adrian Perez, age 21 has turned himself into authorities in connection with a hit-and-run last month which critically injured Michelle Holguin, age 53, while she was riding her bike home from work.
The incident was reported around midnight on July 15th, on the 12600 block of Sunrise Blvd. Police said that Holguin was riding home from her job at Lester’s Diner, and she was wearing black shoes, black pants, and a black shirt, at the time of the incident.
Surveillance video later obtained shows Perez at a gas station checking his car for damage right after the crash, before driving off again.
According to a police report, Perez texted a friend, telling him that he hit a deer with his car, and killed it. Then Perez proceeded home, where he checked the internet for stories relating to the incident.
He got out of the car, saw the damage, went to a gas station and texted his friend — (told) his friend that he hit a deer, and the deer died,” Judge Jill Levy said. “After that, your son looked online to try and get his windshield replaced.”
The victim remains hospitalized in a medically induced coma.
