Peter Avsenew, self confessed prostitute, is convicted of murder

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Peter Avsenew was convicted in the murder of Kevin Adams and Steven Powell. The incident occurred in 2010, when he met two men off of Craigslist.

Jurors spent many hours this past Wednesday listening to testimony from Avsenew, his mother, and re-watching different surveillance tapes which catch the three men together before the murder.

He still has a grin on his face as of today,” Missi Badgett, Adams’ other sister, said. “How can you sit there and show no remorse?”

The Craigslist couple was found shot to death in their Wilton Manors home, just one day after Christmas in 2010. Avsenew, who confesses he’s a prostitute, placed the ad on Craigslist and moved in with the couple, just weeks before killing them.

When police arrested Avsenew he was in possession of the couples credit cards and vehicle. His lawyer argued he had taking the items only after finding the couple dead.

In addition to murder, Avsenew was convicted on two counts each of armed robbery, grand theft auto, credit card fraud and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Avsenew faces the death penalty. He will be sentenced in January.
