South Florida’s restaurant scene isn’t always as clean as it should be, and the latest health inspection reports prove just that. One Broward County restaurant landed at the top of this week’s Dirty Dining list with a staggering 41 violations, including live roaches, insects in the rice, and food stored at dangerous temperatures.
According to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Hong Kong Dim Sum BBQ, located at 6769 W. Sunrise Blvd., Plantation, was temporarily shut down on February 21 after inspectors found multiple critical violations.
Some of the most alarming findings included:
With 41 violations, this was one of the worst inspection reports seen in recent months.
Hong Kong Dim Sum BBQ wasn’t the only restaurant forced to shut down. Inspectors also temporarily closed Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen at 1600 NW 183rd St., Miami Gardens, after finding rodent droppings in food storage areas. The Salsa Fiesta at 1495 NW 107th Ave., Doral, was cited for improper food storage and hygiene issues.
After addressing the violations, Hong Kong Dim Sum BBQ was allowed to reopen following a reinspection. However, customers should be aware that these types of violations don’t always mean a restaurant is permanently cleaned up.
Food safety is a big deal, and not all restaurants take it seriously. Always check the latest DBPR health inspection reports before dining out in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties. You can view official reports on the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation website.
