Fort Lauderdale, Florida – With most of the county still under heavy restrictions due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the state and county are eager to get on with life.

This week the positive news came that cases in Broward county have reached below 5%, and Mayor Dale Holness is eyeing a Phase 2 reopening of Fort Lauderdale. Broward’s 14 day positive rating has been hovering between 4-5%.

“We are at the point now where we can look to possibly to do some more openings so we can get the economy revived again,” Holness said Wednesday.

In another report we also see a decline in the hospitalizations from Covid-19. Credit is being given to health care workers and people wearing masks, social distancing, and residents listening to guidelines concerning the pandemic.

A major topic of conversation is on of Fort Lauderdale’s major yearly events, the annual boat show. The event draws people from all over the world and all walks of life to Broward County and Fort Lauderdale.

The boat show’s future still questionable, the mayor said.

There will be a discussion about it Thursday at a county commission meeting. Right now it’s scheduled for Oct. 28-Nov. 1.
