Broward Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, in anticipation of Hurricane Ian’s arrival.

Fort Lauderdale – Despite the fact that Broward County is not in the direct path of Hurricane Ian, officials have elected to close schools in both Broward County and Miami-Dade County, Wednesday and Thursday.

Catholic schools in Miami-Dade, Broward and the Florida Keys will also be closed Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Miami and Broward archdiocese said.

Florida International University also announced it will close Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday.

The University of Miami is moving all classes on its Coral Gables and Marine campuses to an online format beginning at 2 p.m. Tuesday and continuing throughout Wednesday.
