Fort Lauderdale, Florida – Fort Lauderdale’s current mayor Dale Holness, has served as mayor in the city for the last 10 months. It was recently discovered that the mayor owes $19,343.98 debt to the county in property taxes, and is facing some backlash over the debt which dates back to 2018.
Holness is a licensed real estate agent in Florida. He owns property in the city of Fort Lauderdale (address available online). According to the Broward County Property Appraiser’s records, the debt includes $11,000 for that property.
Also according to records Holness owns 7 properties total. When asked about the debt, Holness stated due to the Covid 19 pandemic he was behind on the taxes as he budgets to take care of his families.
