Florida Department of Transportation agrees to fund commuter rail from Fort Lauderdale to Aventura

The FDOT has agreed to fund $74 million, owards construction of a Broward commuter rail line, according to a tweet from County Mayor Michael Udine.

Much like its predecessor the TRI-Rail, the train will provide the same type of commuter service, with similar pricing, but the train will run through more densely populated areas, all while sharing some of the Brightline tracks.

The train will begin in Aventura and run all the way down to Fort Lauderdale. Construction on the $300m+ project is expected to begin in 2025, according to a newsletter produced by FDOT.
